Venturing Advancement and Awards

The first step in any journey is the courage to begin. The Venturing rank advancement program is designed to help Venturers grow in the areas of adventure, leadership, personal development, and service (the ALPS model). Ranks serve as benchmarks that give Venturers a structure for developing their own personal vision into manageable goals that lead to recognition by their peers, mentors, and the larger community.

Summit Board of Review Process

After the council office has approved a Summit application, a board of review must be scheduled.

  1. Contact the council Summit board or review coordinator, a volunteer who has been charged with coordinating Summit boards of review, ensuring that the National standards are met as well as the proper process followed. The current council Summer board of review coordinator is Bill Berry. He may be contacted at (832) 792-8500 or wmberryjr@outlook.com.
  2. After discussing preferred timing and location, the council Summit board of review coordinator will contact someone from the approved list to serve as the council representative and chair of the board of review.
  3. The selected council representative will contact the appropriate youth in the crew and will work with the youth in setting up the board of review.
