New Leader Training
You're a new Scout leader. Congratulations, and thank you for your commitment to take a greater role in Scouting. Your first question may be, "What have I gotten myself into?" Don't worry; Scouting trains all of its leaders. Here are the four training courses you need to get you started, no matter if you're a Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Venturing leader:
NOTE FOR ONLINE TRAINING: Prior to taking any online training, set up an account at www.MyScouting.org. In order for your completion report for online training to automatically upload into the ScoutNet database, you must first enter your member ID into your MyScouting profile. If you take any training prior to receiving your member ID, please print out your completion card and present to your district training chair so that your completion of training can be entered by hand into the ScoutNet database.

- This is Scouting training: This required course gives greater detail about the values, aims, history, funding, and methods of Scouting. To complete this training, go to www.MyScouting.org.
- Youth Protection training: This required course will give you the Boy Scouts of America's policies and procedures to protect its members from child abuse. To complete this course, go to www.MyScouting.org.
- Leader Specific training: This required course goes into greater detail about your specific leadership position. For example, if you're a Cubmaster, you'll cover topics and information that is specific to the job of Cubmaster. Same idea if you're a Venturing Advisor or Assistant Scoutmaster.
