The Houston Area Scout Shops are having an event to help scouts and their parents get excited and ready for summer camping. This event will be held on Sat. May 11th or May 18th, during normal store hours, at the scout shop. We are looking for volunteers, both adult and youth, to help with this event. Please let us know what you’re interested in helping with by emailing marcus.jackson@scouting.org. Let us know which store you would like to help with. I will forward your response to your favorite store.
Activities for this event could include but are not limited to the following. Anything related to scouting is welcome! This event gives the youth an idea of what will be offered at camps around the country this summer and gets them excited for the adventures ahead!

The BSA has joined the World Scout Committee in the Messengers of Peace program to recognize scouts' service efforts worldwide.

To participate, scouts simply need to go online and register their MOP-related community service projects (including Eagle Scout projects). Doing so adds pins to a global Messengers of Peace map, showing service projects around the world.
The Messengers of Peace rings are available to all scouts who complete MOP projects. More information is available at the following link. Once you view the link, look to the left of the page. There is a link to "SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT" Make sure to print the certificate to purchase the ring award.
The MOP Ring goes around the World Crest similar to the 2010 Anniversary Ring. You MUST show your completion Certificate to purchase the MOP rings. What can your Scout Shop do for you? We can do any custom item you request. We have the best prices on Tshirts, Polo Shirts, Caps, Patches, or any other Custom Item you need. Ask your Scout Shop Manager for a quote on a custom item and see the difference. We also can do Custom Unit #'s for Cub, Boy Scout, or Venturing Unit #'s.
