Details on the program:
To drive community activation on environmental best practices, The Rockets will designate a time during the game when a “Green Team” will collect recyclable trash (primarily plastic bottles) after a TV spot is aired about it during a time out in 3rd or 4th quarter of a home game. The announcement will include a credit to that night’s “Green Team volunteers” (Sample PSA for the night(s) in which Boy Scouts will provide volunteers: e.g. “The Houston Rockets and Toyota Center (insert corporate partner, as needed) aim to be leaders in the Houston Community on environmental best practices. “You will notice a “Green Team” of volunteers walking down the aisles to collect your recyclable bottles. Tonight’s Green Team is made up of members of Troop 17 from the Houston Boy Scouts. Thank you Troop 17!”
The “Green Team” will then begin to walk down aisles of the arena with a collection bag or bin. Each member of the Team will wear a t-shirt designating themselves as “Green Team” members. Each group will have the opportunity to set up a concourse table to promote their organization and can wear the Scout uniform prior to the collection period in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the game. The volunteers (tentatively 6-10 per night) can man the table until the collection window begins.
The check-in time is 5:30pm. They would work the Boy Scouts table from 6:00- approximately 9:30 when the Green Team promotion occurs (exact time depends on the game flow). They would be completed and out of the building no later than 10:30. It’s a 5 hour commitment. Parking is available in many areas surrounding Toyota Center and limited spaces will be available in the parking garage since they will be arriving early. Parking is $5-$15 depending on the area chosen.
The 6-10 scouts per game will receive a pass to enter the game and will not purchase tickets. The group should include leaders and scouts.
