Something new is in the works for
Sam Houston Area Council Commissioners!
Commissioners ended 2009 with a successful Commissioner Conference in December with just under 200 attendees registered for the event. Given the unexpected icy weather, the turnout was still great with staff, session instructors and attendees braving the road conditions to be part of the conference.
Looking ahead…
2010 will be a year of celebration, recognizing the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America with special events across the country and right here in Sam Houston Area Council.
It seems fitting to begin our next century on Scouting with a new approach to training for commissioners in our council by introducing the College of Commissioner Science for 2010.
The College of Commissioner Science is a program used by a number of councils throughout the Boy Scouts of America to present a training curriculum specific to the needs of commissioners. The College of Commissioner Science structures training sessions so that attendees may pursue degrees within the college.
Bachelors, Masters and Doctorates of Commissioner Science can be earned.
You can look forward to the first Sam Houston Area Council College of Commissioner Science
planned for Saturday, December 3, 2010.
This Commissioner Newsletter will be published monthly to keep you abreast of plans as we build our College of Commissioner Science.
2010 will be a great year to be a commissioner in our council. With the excitement of the celebration of the centennial year of Boy Scouts of America and the plans for this new training, our commissioner teams will have an opportunity to make this the best year yet for commissioner service in each district in Sam Houston Area Council.
Stay tuned each month for more important information as the plans for the College of Commissioner Science develop.
